FINALLY! I lost count but figure at least 3 episodes of working on this overall scoring functionality. In Episode 16 I got Level 1 functionality working but once Level 2 scores was added things started breaking.
It’s been three days since the last episode due to the Labor Day weekend and I didn’t even open this project all weekend…but did think about it. I started this episode with the abundance of confidence that it was just one or two triggers causing havoc. Yeah, well it was bit more than that.
Turns out the pattern to pass overall scores over from Level 1 is a little different pattern to pass scores to the next Level and beyond. What was happening were mechanisms to reset variables values. The idea is that no matter how many games you play per level, those final scores will always be maintained in the overall scoring slide.
So…that means that there has to be a set of triggers to evaluate game play, triggers to push those values to overall scoring, AND keep those values in overall scoring while also allowing to continue to play the same game levels again and again. That’s when the difference of patterns between the levels was discovered…just before the hour ended!
That’s it! It works! Episode 18 I’ll begin prepping to add 4-ring game play! Whoohoo!
