How cool is this! The NuggetHead won the Silver Award for this year’s 2010 Articulate Guru Awards!
Back in August I wrote a quick post on Why I Entered the 2010 Articulate Guru Awards. I had my sights set on nothing more than hopefully being considered as an honorable mention. To win Silver and be sharing the stage with the likes of e-Mersion, EndersDesign, Pinched Head, and Kineo is far beyond what I expected. I’m still pinching myself. Humbling to say the least.
I want to also say I can’t thank the Articulate team enough! They are more than a software company…they are a community! Every business who markets a product or service should take lessons from Articulate on how not only to build a community, but how to connect, share, support, manage, and encourage one! From Tom’s Rapid ELearning Blog, the Word of Mouth blog, forums, Screenr, Facebook, or Twitter they have created an online social culture other companies should aspire to achieve!
With the award also came a copy of the Articulate Studio ’09 to give to charity or organization. I chose to give it to the University of Memphis’ Masters Program in Instructional Design & Technology
One final note: I’ll be at DevLearn next month and have submitted the course to DemoFest. If you’re going and a want to see a peak under the hood, stop by the booth. I’d love to hear any suggestions or ideas to make it even better. At least stop by to punch or pinch me so that I know this really happened!
Excellent news, really well done.
Thanks John!
So happy for you, Kevin! Great work & thanks for being an inspiration to the Articulate community. Bravo!!
Thanks Jeanette! I think of the Articulate community as “Inspirational Insomnia” … I get so many ideas that I can’t sleep! 🙂
Congrats on your award! I checked out your piece and very much enjoyed your humourous approach.
Thank you! I had a blast building it. Actually, I think my son (actor in video) had more fun and is wanting to do another one already!
You earned it Kevin. Guru Awards aren’t handed out willy-nilly!
I still remember the day you mentioned throwing your hat into the contest. Your excitement (and smack talk) continued all the way to the finish line. Your passion and enthusiasm are constant reminders why we work in this industry.
Good luck at DemoFest!
Me? It was your smack talk that challenged me! You drew the line in the sand and I wasn’t about to let you get away with it. 🙂
Seriously, I really enjoyed the project, and I am already brainstorming what to for next year. Thanks again for all your support, and I’ll see you next month at DevLearn.
Big congrats, Kevin! Your course was a lot of fun and you definitely earned the silver.
Also, thanks for the props in your 3rd paragraph – love your comments and appreciate the enthusiasm for what we do… and thank you for being part of it all! 🙂
Hey Gabe! Thank you and I’m glad you had fun…and maybe learned a thing or two about weeds!
You’re welcome! I’ve gotten to know more people and made more friends in the Articulate community than any others. I simply call it like I see it! When there are so many weak attempts at building communities, you guys hit a home run and have it figured out. Keep up the great work…and support!
Great course, Kevin! I liked it so much, and I think that 1st place was a chance for you. Congratulations again for your prize!
Thanks Italgo! Man, I wish you were one of the judges 😉 Thanks again and I’m glad you liked it.
Yes, I think that it’s a great job, rich of many interesting ideas. I also think that I will reuse some of them, hehe!
I liked so much the idea about collecting items, such as a videogame, to evidence learner’s progress. Smart!
Thanks again! And reuse as much as inspires you! If you’ll be at DevLearn, stop by during DemoFest and take a closer look.
I would like to be there, but I live in Italy and it is difficult at this moment! 🙁
Maybe in the next years!
Congrats on the award. We’d love to chat with you at OpenSesame about a content partnership. I’m at tom.turnbull@opensesame.com if you want to shoot me an email.
Hey Tom,
Thank you and thanks for stopping by! Look forward to chatting with you more about your offer. I’ll send an email soon.
